Once a year, the 11th and 12th of July, takes place in Ulan Bator, Mongolia’s capital, the great Nadaam. It consists in competition of tree traditional Mongolian sports: struggle, archery, horses race. This national event attracts both inhabitants of the cities and from the steppe, and it is a great joyful moment. The athletes are celebrated like national heroes. One year during, the breeders have prepared themselves. Some regional competitions have permitted to select the best competitors. Before the great Nadaam, families arrive from all over the country and camp all around the capital.
