The festival of Ganesh
At the end of the twentieth century, the followers have dedicated temples to Ganesh in New York, London and Paris since 1985. In 2009 is the 14th festival of Ganesh, it takes place every August in Paris. Leading the procession, musicians and dancers are walking with on their shoulders the great arch of peacock feathers (kavadi). Then are following the pilgrims, women cover their heads by clay pots in which burning of camphor. Along the trail, the coconuts are broken at the crossing of the tank housing the statue of Ganesh, that mean offer him his heart. Throughout the course, some blessed gifts, sweets and soft drinks will be distributed. Then the festival will end with the return of the chariot to the temple followed by a ceremony.
