On the road of the Incas
Also, Quichuas regroup a mosaic of ethnic groups in reality. Many of them kept, in spite of the past conquests and the actual pressure of the western model, specific cultural traits. Carrying in general the name of the basin, the village or the zone of altitude which constituted their habitat of origin, they are different, between others, by the traditional costume. That's how there are Indians of Otavalo, in the white, black and blue clothes, in the province of Imbabura, Cachas, with hats of white felt in the province of Chimborazo, Salasacas, in the long dark ponchos, in the province of Tungurahua, to name only some examples of an amazing diversity. All life of Indians is linked to the earth, source of material and spiritual life which they name "Pachamama" ("pacha" recalls at the same time the earth and the time).
