The flower market
The famous flower market along one of the oldest canals of Amsterdam, the Sigel. The flowers have become a commodity to be dealt with globally. It was at Aalsmeer in Holland that is traded a third of world trade in cut flowers. The scholarship flower Aalsmeer is the largest commercial building in the world with its 775 square meters, equivalent to more than 125 football fields. The system of auctions to wheel date back to 1912, and the price of flowers is determined solely by the forces of supply and demand. This is an auction that is in competition with Dutch producers around the world.
