The first inhabitants of the island were Indians from Venezuela a few centuries before our era. A nation of fishermen and peaceful Arawaks. Around the ninth century they were exterminated by the cannibal tribe warrior and the Caribbean (Kariba), which inhabit the island of Caloucaéra (island of beautiful waters, Karukéra Creole) at the arrival of the fleet of Christopher Columbus, November 3 1493.
